âSorry about that, Blake was just showing me a new flyer he made for the bar.â I give Blake a look to not say anything. Speaking of, I need to ask him about the Cinco de Mayo flyers, that holiday will be here before you know it. Blake shoves his phone back in his jeans pocket along with his hands.
âO-k, but you couldâve done that after everything was taken care of.â I can tell he rolled his eyes, then his mood shifts. âI think I earned myself an ice cream sandwich. Maybe I will ask Lili is she wants one.â He tries egging me on and Iâm stupid enough to take his bait.
I clench my fists, my jaw set tight, âdonât even think about it, dick.â
Iâm not playing around with him anymore. This mega player is not adding Lili to his list of fucks. Then I remember how she laughed at Fordâs pathetic attempt at using his âSouthern charmâ on her. Gavin in his own way is Fordâs squire; heâs following in my gunnerâs footsteps in the dating department.
Relaxing, I give Gavin a bemused look knowing Lili would never fall for his foolishness.
I give a knowing lift of my chin, âthen again, by all means, try it.â
âIâll finish cleaning whatever is left.â Blake chimes in, still a bit nervous, leaving the room abruptly and wanting no part in this bickering match. Brotherly love at its finest.
Gavin waggles his brow, taking my challenge and raising it, âmaybe I will. I do enjoy blondes.â But I know he wonât touch her. He has tried getting me with so many women once I bought the bar, this is the first interest Iâve had in years. No way would he fuck this up for me. He pulled his phone out and checked the time, his face sobering, âdonât you have to get going? Itâs about four thirty. Honestly, Iâm surprised you stayed this long, usually you have to get back right after we eat.â
He sets his thumbs through his belt loops. Gavin switched nights with a kitchen worker, so he is coming in at six, beard net and all.
âShit. I had no idea it was that late. I told Ford Iâd be there in a half hour.â I wave him away as I type out a quick text to Ford then head outside to the patio where everyone is playing a game at the table.
I clasp Liliâs shoulder then hesitate when I remember her issue with touching. She doesnât flinch. Sheâs comfortable here. Iâm glad my family can do that for her.
Her gaze meets mine and she smiles back, âCare to join in a game of Chicken-Foot? This game is fantastic. Iâve never had so much fun.â
My face falls and I notice her immediate attention to my shift, âI have to get back to the bar.â
âOh,â She mimics my disappointment, âwe can head back.â She starts to stand.
âNuh-uh, youâre staying. We are having too much fun to stop now. You can ride back with me once we are done.
